Apply & Audition

Students eighth grade (age 13 or older by September 1st) through age 21 as of fall semester are eligible to audition for the Symphony Orchestra. Students in the eighth grade (age 13 or younger by September 1st) and below are eligible to audition for the String Orchestra.

Membership in MYSO of Atlanta is earned through blind auditions, which are adjudicated by the MYSO of Atlanta conductors and other professional musicians. Auditions run between ten and fifteen minutes, which consists of excerpts from the upcoming season, a solo work of the musician's choice and scales. All new and returning members must audition for the 2010-2011 season.

Applicants must complete the 2010-2011 application, obtain audition information and be able to download and print the selected excerpts for their respective instrument. All positions in the symphony and string orchestras will be filled at these auditions. Audition times will not be assigned until the application and fees are confirmed by our office. Please note that the application fee is non-refundable.
